Great support, constantly improving

This is an update of my feedback posted in April 2015. After using it for one year, I have noticed its constant improvement, and I do appreciate the tech support responsiveness. They quickly fixed several bugs I had reported, and seem to be willing to take users wishes for evolution into account.

Perfect for Offline Adventures!

Finally! Ive been hunting around for a long time now to find an app that allows waypoint tracking to offline maps. Trails has a number of maps to choose from and with the OSM maps, I was able to download the area I was planning the trip for, save some waypoints and away you go! Love it! Excellent customer support too.

Good app but could be great

I have used Trails every weekend for the last year. Its the best i have found so far but has some very annoying shortcomings. Map Labels are very small (almost unreadable on iphone 6) and size is not configurable. Add text size setting and an easy way to see it magnified further such as touch and hold over text. Downloaded Offline map area is too small. I use this every week and need to change the offline area every week just for different parts of White Mountain Natl Forest. I had to create a repeating calendar reminder on Fridays to remind me to download appropriate map area while i have wifi. The following is an enhancement rather than an issue: Allow a destination and route along known trails to be selected and show remaining distance and time based on average (since start) and recent progress (last 15 or 30 min) speed.

Pretty good so far.

Used this today for a bike ride. I had been using GPS Kit for this kind of thing, but those developers seem to have abandoned their app. Hasnt been updated in a very long time. I do like the very simple interface of Trails. I like that you can just hit a button or two and go right into tracking. I very much like the feature that will stop automatically tracking once you return to your original starting point. Simple feature, but brilliant. It would be good if there was an option in the "Units" setting to change how the time is displayed. The (degree symbol), , " is hard to read at a glance. The option to use h, m, s for the time display would be quite nice. Integration of additional maps (particularly USGS topo) would be fantastic.

Accurate, reliable, feature rich

I used the app on a couple of hikes and bike rides (the longest was over 10 hrs and I still had 25% battery left on an iPhone 6 plus). The recording was very reliable and accurate (in contrast to some other apps I tried). It has tons of useful features and shows relevant statistics. I especially like the fact that it doesnt require to sign up for some membership. Keep up the good work!

A Truly Great App!

I use it mostly to get a time-stamped track to geotag photos. Does that just fine! (But youll need additional software to actually tag the photos, however. ) Also provides distance traveled, elevation, other stats. And if youre connected to the Web, a map of your track. Also intelligently chooses point intervals a track do you dont end up with 100 entries at the same point. And I like the auto naming of tracks: "Morning Stroll" & "Evening Run," for example. Has everything I want and more.

Doesnt work on an iPod touch

No track made when left running on an iPod touch. It appears to require a phone with internet connectivity to do anything.

Robust, reasonably priced

Great app. I use it mostly for hiking and its useful for navigating--finding small trails that arent blazed. This app has tons of features and is reasonably priced. The support documentation could be a little more detailed, explaining, for example, the on-map features like the three versions of the arrowhead. Id like to have the ability to add an alert when I reach a predetermined point on a map.

Awesome app!

We use it to record our tracks while hiking or backpacking. I couldnt be more pleased with an app.

Great app

I love this app used many times for hiking trips. Works great. With internet or not. Just download the Section you are hiking be for you leave. I used this app on 6 hour hike with internet and listened to my playlist on i-phone. Sill had 20% power when back a car.

Trails

Works great for a simple mapping tool. Interface could be a bit for friendly for us not so tech savvy folk.

Perfect App

Does everything it says and does, and then some. Perfect.

Amazing!

Very good app! A lot of information. Good for bike Good for hike

Fantastic Application

I use this for my bike rides to track my distance, speeds, pace and whatnot. I payed 4.99 for a year of Trails Pro, and it has turned out to be an amazing purchase. I highly recommend this app to runners, walkers, hikers, cyclists and more out there. Although I love it, its not perfect, hence the four star rating, although exceptionally close. A must-download!!!

Slick design and cool features

This is a very nice app which works even smoothly on my iPhone 4s. I especially like the possibility to start an in-app web server to browse the routes on a bigger screen.

Powerful app loaded with (partly hidden) features

Many nice features, some of which I have discovered by chance. Detailed statistics are available during tracking and on previously recorded tracks, as figures, graphs and a track on a map, with the ability to display information (speed, altitude, etc.) all along the track. Developers seem responsive, and willing to take users feedback into account. I give it five stars, trusting a detailed and needed manual will soon be available, since many very interesting features are not obvious. I dont appreciate much the limited license policy (3, 6, or 12 months), but hope this will be justified by a top-level support, and a constantly improved app.

Fantastic

Better than using a GPS connected to your camera which takes forever to get satellites. Your phone uses cell tower information and GPS to get location. This software is super easy to use. After a day out in a city, I just email to myself the GPX file and using Lightroom I can merge the GPS coordinates in the pictures.

Worth the price !

Très belle évolution depuis lapp dorigine. Belle interface, efficace.

The best

Simply the best app for hiking. Good job developers!

Map/Position/Navigation

While your iPhone and Apple Watch apps are awesome, please, please bring the current position, map view from the phone to the watch so I dont constantly have to get the phone out of my pocket while hiking. Please do that.
